Imagine an educational landscape where schools:
- allow for flexible working – shorter working week anywhere and any time
- allow for breaks during the contact day to collaborate and develop with other staff members
- allow for pooling of resources into regional hubs for ensuring expertise in every lesson
- allow for greater focus on teamwork, collaboration, projects and themes – stage not age
- reduce the formality of the education experience – environment, apparel, relationships
- Employ teachers as informed and expert facilitators embedded within learning and research communities
- Allow for innovation and invention
- Have capacity to provide trauma-informed approaches for students and more targeted pastoral support
f
The first steps are to:
- Learn: action research programmes on themes – eliminate marking; broaden the experience to a global level; support staff absence; create dynamic student collaboration projects
- SLT AI: Move operational processes to AI – focus on the future and strategic thinking
- Prepare: 1:1 devices; internet infrastructure; staff training and ambassador groups; directed time for development and collaboration; standing items on senior and middle leadership agendas
- Explore: Rethink Sixth Form physical environment; reconsider school day and ‘Lab work’; enhance teambuilding and social enrichment

How to mitigate the eye rolls:
- Not enough time to research
- Lack of knowledge and experience and expertise
- Not sure where to go or where to start for educators
- Generational divide
- Avoiding corporatisation of school environment
